A Letter To Every Loleta Elementary graduating eighth grade class
Forty-two years ago, I was an eighth grader here at Loleta Elementary. Many of my friends now are the same friends that I had back in grade school. We use to spend the weekend riding our bikes to the beach, cardboard sliding or fishing at the Genzoli pond. During school it was playing in the band, basketball at recess, field days, and painting the Christmas scenes on the 7th & 8th grade classroom windows. The thing to do then was to watch the new gym being built while in class.
As a former student of Loleta Elementary I have created, A Waterdogs’ College Scholarship Fund to lend a helping hand to kids in Loleta so they can go to college. This year scholarship is worth $1100, and will be awarded to the winner of an essay contest. To enter, you must write an essay, telling the story of your life here in Loleta. Return it by the due date. The winner will receive a check for $100 graduation night, and $1000 will be paid in 4 years upon proof of enrollment. The winner will also be asked to present next years’ award.

It is not my intent to exclude those students that may not qualify due to rules. If you believe you might be one of the students that falls short, let me know and we will look at your qualifications on a case to case level. Grades are not a factor, because a “C” average student still needs to go to college.
Judges will include educators and former students of Loleta Elementary.
Thank you and good luck,
Mike Taylor
